WHAT’S NEW!
FC Eco line, the ecological choice.
The sustainable approach has rippled through La Sportiva production lines, leading to the creation of a range of shoes made with eco-friendly materials. The FC ECO range of shoes and boots uses outsole, midsole and laces derived from recycled materials from previous production lines. The products manufactured using these techniques and materials will bear the company’s “eco-friendly logo”. The FC system is based on the design of the uppers which identifies two articulation points in correspondence with the foot’s natural flex points to allow maximum freedom of movement and uncompromised support.
The FC Eco 2.0 is a low cut hiking shoe available in mens and womens sizes, and is ideal for walking tracks and general everyday use. This model belongs to the FC Eco line and combines the Flex Control system to the use of recycled materials for the sole (Vibram Eco-Step compound), the insole and the laces (100% recycled polyester). The uppers are made using a combination of nabuck and eco friendly fabric, the Gore Tex lining offers maximum breathability. The insole is made from recycled EVA from previous production phases thus the production waste is reduced to zero without compromising performance levels. The FC system is based on the design of the uppers which identifies two articulation points in correspondence with the foot’s natural flex points to allow maximum freedom of movement and uncompromised support.
For walkers who want more ankle support, the FC Eco 3.0 is mid cut hiking boot ideal for walking tracks and an easy day out in the mountains.

MANTRA
The most technical part of any walking boot or shoe is hidden away in the sole. If you turn over your boots, you may see different coloured rubbers in the sole or side walls. These are not just pretty colours! They represent the different components that go into the construction of quality footwear; components going under a variety of names such as the midsole, shank, skeleton, outsole, last and heel support. What I aim to do here is to explain what you are getting next time you purchase footwear from us.
Lets look at the new Mantra shoe from Vasque. First the Vibram® Ananasi Outsole: This is a rubber sole combined with polyurethane for grip and high performance. It has a hard rubber skeleton for torsional rigidity, while still allowing the shoe to flex front-to-back. This is in the rear part of the shoe, and can be likened to your ribs extending outwards from a central longitudinal stiffener. Secondly the Perpetuum Last, which is the name given to the last that defines the shape of the shoe. This last has a straight line for comfort over long distances, suits walkers with flatter feet, and the low volume heel keeps the foot securely in place. Last the Moulded EVA Midsole. The midsole is the top-most part of the sole, to which the boot or shoe upper (leather, suede or synthetic) is joined. EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) is a diverse midsole material which is durable, lightweight, and provides responsive cushioning.
Also from Vasque is the Wasatch Gore-tex, an excellent choice for with wide feet.
